Seahawks News

The Seahawks released their schedule with a bang yesterday. The team used a 90’s-style action figure commercial to reveal their opponents for the upcoming season.

The Hawks open the year at home on Sunday, Sep. 7, against the San Francisco 49ers. They’ll also end their regular season against their division rivals in the Bay Area. Seattle will have at least four primetime games, including a Thursday Night Football matchup at Arizona in Week 4 and a Thursday night match against the LA Rams at home.

Also of note, the Seahawks are in for a reunion when they host Pete Carroll, Geno Smith and the Las Vegas Raiders for their first preseason game on an unspecified date.

The Seahawks are making a push to get their home field advantage back. ESPN’s Brady Henderson reports the team sent an email to season-ticket holders telling them that their renewal eligibility “may be impacted” if they’re found to have resold most of their tickets. The letter goes on to say that accounts that resell a majority of their season tickets will be contacted at the end of the season and given an opportunity to respond before any decisions are made.

The crackdown comes after the Hawks went 3-6 at home last season and both Geno Smith and DK Metcalf lamented the large presence of opposing teams’ fans at Lumen. General manager John Schneider even said after the season that fans have to get Lumen “rocking again.”

Sounders News

LAFC got some payback against the Seattle Sounders yesterday.  LA had four-different players reach the back of the net and avenged an earlier-season loss to Seattle drubbing the Sounders 4-0. With the win, LAFC extended its unbeaten streak to six games. The Sounders hadn’t experienced defeat since dropping a 3-0 contest on April 5 against San Diego.

Western Washington University’s softball team is down, but not out. The Viks fell to Cal State San Marcos 9-1 this afternoon in the NCAA Super Regional Round.

The loss snapped Western’s 16-game win streak. But it was just the first of a best-of-three series, with the next game taking place at 11 am tomorrow. If the Viks take that one, they’ll rematch right after for a spot in the championship rounds in Chattanooga, TN.
