OKANAGAN COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Two women were rescued following separate incidents in the North Cascades.

Naval Air Station Whidbey Island says their Search and Rescue team responded to two rescue requests in Okanagan County this week.

The first took place on Saturday, when a 25-year-old woman fell about 80 feet on the eastern face of Silver Star Mountain. She severely lacerated her right leg in the fall, leaving her unable to walk.

The second rescue took place on the Pacific Crest Trail below Devil’s Backbone on Monday.

A 48-year-old woman had injured herself and sent a call for help that brought in Search and Rescue crews in the early afternoon.

Both were transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham in stable condition.
