BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The third annual PNW Climate Week will bring workshops, open houses and community conversations to Bellingham from July 16 to July 25.

Organizers set up a series of events celebrating the region’s environmental innovation and aiming to spark collaboration between businesses and community members. The celebration will span nine days and take place in over 10 cities from Portland, OR to Vancouver, B.C.

In Bellingham, local businesses including zero waste refill store Pumped Goods and bicycle-themed coffee shop Café Velo will host workshops and tours in town.

Co-lead event organizer Amy Nicknish encourages people of all levels of experience and environmental knowledge to join the discussion.

“Whether they’re seasoned climate advocates and this is their professional calling or they’re just beginning to explore sustainability, there’s an opportunity for folks to come together, to take part in really genuine, meaningful conversations and activities,” Nicknish said.

Events start on Thursday, July 17 with a Weldcraft waterfront cleanup site tour and a Salty Social Hour at the Community Boating Center in Fairhaven.

On Friday, cyclists can take an 8-mile loop tour and join a Climate Fresk workshop, beginning and ending at Kulshan’s Trackside location.

Events continue throughout the week, culminating in a “Hempcrete Workshop” with North West Living & Learning Community Collaborative. Attendees can learn about extreme heat and wildfire preparedness info in City Hall the day prior, presented in collaboration with Whatcom County Health and Community Services.
