WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A popular swimming spot in Whatcom County is open once more following high bacteria levels were reported.
Wildcat Cove in Larrabee State Park is no longer experiencing high levels of bacteria pollution according to the Washington State Department of Ecology.
Ecology often updates their BEACH program map of monitored beaches in the state.
My Bellingham Now previously reported testing at the cove in late July noted high levels of enterococcus bacteria, causing Whatcom County’s health department to issue the swimming advisory.
BEACH program Communications Manager Mugdha Flores told My Bellingham Now that the advisory was lifted Friday. For up-to-date information about current beach closures around the state, visit Ecology’s BEACH program page.
