The Mariners took care of business at home last night to even their playoff series against the Tigers.
Seattle beat Detroit 3-2 last night at T-Mobile Park thanks to a pair of solo home runs by Jorge Polanco. Julio Rodriguez hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the eighth inning to give the M’s a crucial win.
Luis Castillo and the Mariners’ bullpen were lights out, giving up just three hits to Detroit. Closer Andres Munoz closed the Tigers out one night after throwing two innings in a 3-2 extra-inning loss.
The ALDS is now tied at one game apiece as the series heads to Detroit for a pair of games.
Logan Gilbert will take the mound for Game 3 tomorrow. Coverage begins at noon and first pitch is at 1:08 on KPUG.
Seahawks News
The Seahawks couldn’t prevail in a battle of high-flying offenses yesterday in Seattle.
They fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38-35 after Sam Darnold threw an interception in the final minute of the game to set Tampa up for a game-winning field goal. It blemished an otherwise stellar game for Darnold, who threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 132 receiving yards and a touchdown to lead Seattle’s offense. Yesterday’s shootout featured seven straight drives between the two teams that resulted in touchdowns, starting near the end of the second quarter and extending into the fourth.
The Seahawks now fall to 3-2 on the season, one game behind the first-place San Francisco 49ers in the division.
Meanwhile, 12’s fans can get an early preview of their opponent for next week tonight. The Jacksonville Jaguars are hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football.
The Jags will host the Seahawks next Sunday, but first they’ll have to go through 2x MVP Patrick Mahomes and the reigning AFC Champion Chiefs.

Huskies/Cougs News
The Huskies made a furious 4th quarter rally to stun Maryland on Saturday.
UW entered the final quarter trailing 20-3, but strung together three straight touchdown drives to win the game 24-20. Demond Williams Jr. threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
It was the Huskies’ first road win in the Big Ten since making their conference debut last season. They now improve to 4-1 on the season ahead of this Friday’s home matchup against Rutgers.
The Cougs had the week off before they travel to face 4th-nationally ranked Ole Miss on Saturday.
Sounders/Reign News
The Seattle Sounders edged the Portland Timbers 1-0 on Saturday.
Pedro de la Vega scored the sole goal of the game early in the first half to help give Seattle their first home win over the Timbers since 2017. The Sounders had also gone winless since beating Inter Miami to win the Leagues Cup in August.
Stefan Frei finished with four saves and notched his seventh shutout of the season for the Sounders.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Reign played Gotham FC to a scoreless draw yesterday. They own the fifth-best record in the league with three matches left in the season.

Running down high school football scores from over the weekend…
Squalicum pulled off a major upset over the top-ranked 2A school in the state. The Storm beat Anacortes 24-21 on Friday to hand the 2x defending champions their first loss of the season.
Mount Baker edged out Nooksack Valley in a 46-39 barnburner.
Lynden Christian shut out Blaine 41-0;.
Meridian beat King’s Way Christian 49-7.
Bellingham handed Granite Falls their first loss of the season in a 20-14 win.
Ferndale fell to Stanwood 21-14.
And Lummi Nation defeated Concrete 22-14.
