The Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-3 earlier today to take a 2-0 lead in the ALCS.

Julio Rodriguez hit a 3-run home run in the first inning to get things rolling and Jorge Polanco and Josh Naylor each hit homers to lead the offensive explosion. Logan Gilbert gave up two earned runs over three innings in the start, while Seattle’s bullpen gave up just a single hit from there.

The series now heads back to Seattle, where the M’s could secure their first World Series appearance in franchise history. First pitch for Game 3 is at 5:08 pm on Wednesday.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks continued their dominance on the road yesterday.

Seattle beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-12 to jump back into a tie for the NFC West division lead.

The Jags took an early 6-0 lead, but the Hawks went on to score 20 unanswered points to secure the win and extend their road win streak to nine.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba highlighted the game with a 61-yard touchdown reception.

He finished with eight catches for 162 yards and now leads the NFL in total yards this season with 696.

With the 49ers’ loss to Tampa Bay, the Seahawks now sit in a three-way tie with the Niners and Rams for first place in the division, all owning 4-2 records.

Next up for Seattle, they’re home against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.

Huskies/Cougs News

The Huskies put on a show over the weekend. They beat Rutgers 38-19 to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Demond Williams Jr. threw for 402 yards and ran for another 136 to set career highs in both categories while scoring four total touchdowns. Rutgers entered the second quarter with a 10-0 lead, but the Huskies exploded for three touchdowns in the third quarter to take the lead and never looked back.

With the win, the Huskies are on the brink of cracking the AP Top 25. They received the 28th most votes in the country in the latest poll.

Next up, they’ll travel to the Midwest on Saturday to face Michigan, who received the 27th most votes in the rankings.

 

Meanwhile, the Cougs nearly pulled off the upset of the weekend. They fell to fifth-nationally ranked Ole Miss 24-21 on Saturday.

Washington State led for a majority of the first three quarters, but the Rebels scored a pair of late touchdowns to escape with the win.

Next up for the Cougs, they have another tough road test when they travel to face No. 18 Virginia on Saturday.

Kraken News

The Kraken came out on top in a thriller over the weekend.

Jared McCann scored with just under 4 seconds left in overtime to lift Seattle over the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1.

Matty Beniers scored the first goal of the game and Vegas evened it up near the end of the third period before McCann scored the game-winner.

The Kraken are off to their first 2-0 start in team history.

They’ll look to make it three straight tomorrow against the Montreal Canadiens in the first of a six-game road trip.

Sounders/Reign News

Paul Rothrock scored the only goal of the game to lead the Sounders to a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday. The Sounders sit in fifth place in the Western Conference with just one match left in the season.

Meanwhile, the Reign played Bay FC to a 1-1 draw on Friday. They own the fifth-best record in the league with two matches left to go.

Lynden Christian beat Sehome 17-6.

Lynden topped Squalicum 27-17.

Bellingham fell to Burlington-Edison 41-7.

Mount Baker beat Meridian 21-13.

Nooksack Valley defeated Blaine 52-22.

Ferndale edged Snohomish 15-14.

Lummi Nation blew by Muckleshoot Tribal 48-0.

And Anacortes lost to Archbishop Murphy 43-7.
