Mariners News
The Mariners are back at home tonight as they look to take a 3-0 advantage in the ALCS.
The M’s pitching stumped the Jays in Toronto, holding them to just four runs and eight hits in the first two games. Now, they have a chance to secure their first-ever World Series appearance in Seattle later this week.
George Kirby is on the mound tonight in his first start since his stellar outing in last Friday’s decisive Game 5 against Detroit.
Coverage for Game 3 begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5:08 on KPUG.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers took a 2-0 lead of their own last night over in the NLCS.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a three-hitter for the first postseason complete game in eight years to help lift LA to a 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Max Muncy and former Mariner Teoscar Hernandez each hit solo homers as the Dodgers now go back home with a chance to clinch the series.
This is now the first time since 1970 that both LCS road teams started their series up 2-0.
First pitch for tomorrow’s Game 3 between the Brewers and Dodgers is at 3:08 pm.
Mariners fans have mixed emotions after Gold Glove finalists were announced earlier today.
Julio Rodriguez is in the running for the defensive award for the first time in his career. But Cal Raleigh was snubbed from a finalist spot in the American League.
Raleigh is coming off a 2024 campaign where he not only won Gold Glove at catcher, but won the AL Platinum Glove award for the best defender regardless of position. He didn’t have a single passed ball during the 2025 regular season.
The winners are set to be unveiled on Nov. 2.
Kraken News
The Kraken came up just short in a thriller up North last night.
Seattle fell to the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 in overtime for their first loss of the season. The third period featured two goals by each team, including a game-tying score by Montreal with less than three minutes left to send it to extra time. But the Canadiens’ Cole Caufield scored his second goal of the game to give Montreal its third straight win.
The Kraken now fall to 2-0-1, as Jared McCann scored his team-leading third goal of the young season.
Next up, they’re on the road against the Ottawa Senators tomorrow. Coverage begins at 3:30 and puck drops at 4:00 on KGMI.
WWU Vikings News
Western Washington University basketball fans are gathering on campus tonight to open the season.
It’s the annual Viking Jam at Carver Gym, which features a dunk contest, 3-point shootout, dance performances by the school’s cheer and dance teams and intrasquad scrimmages. It comes a day after the Western women’s basketball team was picked to finish first in the GNAC in the conference’s preseason coaches poll.
Both teams feature plenty of homegrown talent, including Lynden’s Anthony Canales and Anna VanderYacht, and Lynden Christian’s Libby Stump and Demi Dykstra.
The Zone’s own Allan Fee will emcee the event. Doors to Carver Gym open at 6:30 tonight and the Viking Jam tips off at 7 on WECU Court.
Be sure to get there early, because the first 300 fans will get free pizza from Little Caesars.
