BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Figuring out what to do (or what not to do) for Halloween can be tricky every year. The newsroom at My Bellingham Now has compiled some of our favorite things to do in Whatcom County.

Trick-or-treat in downtown Bellingham

The Downtown Bellingham Partnership is hosting a trick-or-treat event across the downtown area with dozens of local businesses handing out candy to those who dress up. The partnership says this is a free alternative to your normal neighborhood routes that gives you an opportunity to support businesses downtown. When it comes to Halloween fun for the whole family, trick-or-treating is always a great option to not only showcase your costume but to make sure you get your daily steps in!

Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadow Cast at the Mount Baker Theatre

The show may be sold out, but enjoy the cult classic’s 50th anniversary on the silver screen. Costumes, callbacks, and props are encouraged! A fun way to let loose and enjoy the chills, thrills, and fulfillment of the show that gave us special midnight screenings across the globe.

Paper Whale Masquerade

There’s going to be one. With Energy Pyramid and the Lifeblood Quartet performing. Costumes are highly encouraged and you can win a prize for best flair. You can sip on some tea if you want. Or an adult beverage from Doc Swinson’s. They’ll have both. Explore the realms between life and death while boogieing it up on the dance floor. Lots of theatrics in this one. Oh, and there’s going to be a fire if your cold dead heart can’t take it.

Explore creepy parts of our town (with caution)

I’ll hold a seance instead! Bayview Cemetery to start, maybe the Sycamore Building in Fairhaven? Even a collapsed coal mine shaft would be cool to ethereally explore. I hear the Birchwood neighborhood has all the cool creepy places that are perfect for communing with the dead…
