OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Food stamps are on their way to thousands of households across the country.
According to a memo obtained by Politico and NBC News, the U.S. Department of Agriculture says it would complete the necessary process to resume funding SNAP by the end of Friday.
It came after a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to make the full payments by Friday’s deadline.
Gov. Bob Ferguson says hundreds of thousands of Washington residents have begun receiving their food assistance payments.
Meanwhile, the state Department of Health announced on Thursday that benefits from the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program, or WIC, will be available through early December.
The future of both WIC and SNAP benefits were in doubt in recent weeks as the longest government shutdown in U.S. history continues.
