WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Local shelters are opening back up as overnight temperatures drop below freezing.

Whatcom County’s severe weather shelter on N. Forest Street in Bellingham is reopening starting Tuesday night through Friday.

Check-in runs from 4 to 8 p.m., with check-out at 8 a.m. the following morning.

The Bellingham daytime warming shelter at the old Lighthouse Mission Drop-In Center will also be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Saturday.

Further north, Ferndale’s overnight shelter at the United Church of Ferndale will be open starting Tuesday through Friday.

And the Lighthouse Mission will continue to welcome guests daily, with check-in at 7 p.m. and check-out the following morning at 8 a.m.

It comes as overnight lows in Bellingham are forecast to dip into the mid-20’s over the next few days.
