BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – New beachside access at a popular Bellingham park is opening up to the public this week.

Bellingham Parks and Recreation say the construction barricades at Boulevard Park near Woods Coffee are coming down on Thursday, March 5.

Once that happens, park visitors will be able to access newly restored shoreline with safer, more stable walkways.

But before then, the South Bay Trail will be closed between Pattle Point Trestle and the coffee shop from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday for asphalt paving.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that work began in fall 2025 to improve the shoreline access at the park’s eastern and western beaches.

Along with the enhanced public access, the project repaired sections of the shoreline that were damaged by erosion and will help protect it from storm surges and sea level rise.
