WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Washington state has settled with a home cleaning platform accused of deceptive membership and advertising tactics.
The Washington Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday, May 21 that it’s agreed to a consent decree with Homeaglow to end their misleading practices.
Homeaglow, which also operates as Dazzling Cleaning, is an online platform that matches home cleaners with interested customers and advertises a $19 cleaning fee.
But the AG’s Office said the business deceived consumers into memberships with excessive cancellation fees and even fabricated some reviews. It cited one state resident who ultimately paid more than $600 for a single cleaning originally advertised at $79 after being charged membership and cancellation fees.
As part of the settlement, Homeaglow has to properly disclose the terms of its membership and allow all current customers to cancel their memberships without a fee.
According to the Homeaglow website, it offers service across every city in Whatcom County.
