The M’s fell 4-2 last night in LA as the defending World Series champs evened the series at a game apiece. Seattle managed just a single hit over the first seven innings before scoring a pair of late runs, but it was much too late.

Emerson Hancock gave up eight hits and three runs over five innings in what some have speculated could have been his last start with the M’s as his name continues to be reported in trade rumors ahead of Monday’s deadline.

The WNBA is punishing one of the Storm’s co-owners over a reportedly fiery interaction.

The league has suspended Celeste Keaton from attending the team’s next five home games. It comes after multiple reports of Keaton having explicit words with two young fans who brought signs to Climate Pledge Arena supporting Fever guard Sophie Cunningham following her recent comments about transgender athletes.

Along with the suspension, Keaton was also fined an undisclosed amount. The team said in a statement that they respect the league’s decision and remain committed to creating a welcoming and respectful environment at Storm games.

Seattle will look to snap their seven game losing streak tomorrow when they hit the road to face the Atlanta Dream.

Injuries are already starting to mount for one of the Seahawks’ division rivals.

ESPN reports the San Francisco 49ers are concerned about standout wide receiver Rick Pearsall’s latest knee flare-up. Pearsall sat out practice yesterday because of swelling in his knee, the same injury that cost him all or part of 10 games last season.

One of the team’s other top receivers, Christian Kirk, is also sitting out of practice with a calf injury.

It comes as Palo Alto Police say they will not cite 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan for causing the car crash in which he was seriously injured earlier this month.

Bells News

The Bells are rolling into their final road game of the regular season tonight.

They’re aiming to complete a sweep of the Marion Berries in Salem, OR before returning home for their final six games before the playoffs. The Bells beat the Berries 9-7 last night behind home runs from Rashad Hayes and Matt Churchill to win their fourth straight.

Bellingham is still fighting for the second-half North Division Championship and, with that, home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. They’re currently in a three-way tie for that spot with Edmonton and Victoria, the same pair of teams that they’ll face in their final two series of the regular season at Joe Martin Field.

But first, the Bells will look to take care of business on the road tonight with first pitch set for 6:35.

One of Whatcom County’s top prep hoop stars is having a successful summer.

Lynden senior Finley Parcher and the Northwest Blazers won the Girls Under Armor Association national championship earlier this week.

Parcher is currently the 27th-ranked player in the country in ESPN’s Class of 2027.

She’ll look to help win the Lynden girls’ fourth straight state championship this upcoming season and extend their unprecedented 75-game win streak.
