LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Students at Lynden High School got the day off due to a power outage.

The Lynden School District says the high school was closed on Wednesday, Oct. 21, following a power failure at the school campus.

The district expects classes to resume as scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 22.

No other schools in the district were impacted.

It comes ahead of a looming work stoppage that could further disrupt classes. Unionized teachers voted to authorize a strike starting on Wednesday, Oct. 28, if they can’t finalize a new contract with the district by then.

A representative from the school district told My Bellingham Now that they had not determined the cause of the power failure. MBN has reached out to Superintendent David Vanderyacht for further comment.
