OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington state’s COVID-19 alert app will soon be shutting down.

The WA Notify app was launched in November 2020 to alert people to potential COVID-19 exposures.

The app anonymously alerted people who may have been in contact with someone who tested positive for the virus.

State health officials said that their decision to discontinue the app was based on high rates of COVID vaccination and declining rates in virus transmission.

The app will become disabled on May 11th, the same day that Washington’s Public Health Emergency is set to end.
