BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A longtime local brewery is making its return to downtown Bellingham.
Boundary Bay Brewery announced that it’s opening its new location on N. State Street on Wednesday, June 10.
The nanobrewery—called “Boundary on State”—will be located at the site of the former Time and Materials building.
It will feature cocktails, wine and cider, along with a rotating menu of Boundary Bay favorites and beers brewed on-site. The restaurant menu will be made up of shareable plates, salads, paninis and pub fare, with a mix of similar menu items from the past location along with new ones.
The new location will still be owned by Janet Lightner and Ed Bennett but operated by Lightner’s daughter Madison Pugmire and longtime brewer Connor Cottrill. It will be open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. to start off, with plans to add more late-night hours in the future.
Pugmire said the staff is entirely made up of workers from the previous location, which she sees as a big advantage.
“It’s nice to be back together again,” Pugmire told My Bellingham Now in a phone call. “It really makes for a seamless transition.”
Boundary Bay Brewery closed its original location on Railroad Avenue in September 2025, 30 years after opening as the first craft brewery in Bellingham.
