Seahawks News

The Seahawks are reeling after suffering their worst loss in over a year.

They fell to the Chicago Bears 34-17 last night at Lumen Field.

The Bears took an early lead off an 80-yard opening touchdown drive and the Seahawks pulled within three in the 4th quarter. But the Bears added on two more touchdowns to put a stamp on their statement win.

Seattle’s offense struggled while going just 1-11 on third down.  Sam Darnold completed 17 of 34 passes for 171 yards, two touchdowns and a pick.

The ‘Hawks now fall to 4-4 and out of the playoff picture in the NFC.

To make matters worse, star defensive lineman Leonard Williams left with a stinger in the third quarter, though coach Mike Macdonald says he could return for Sunday’s game against Arizona.

Mariners News

The Mariners have named their next manager.

The team announced today that they’ve selected former Cubs director of player development Jason Kanzler as their new skipper.

It will be the first time the 36-year-old Kanzler has managed a team at any level. He’ll be the second-youngest manager in the majors behind the Nationals’ 34-year-old skipper Blake Butera.

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander touted Kanzler’s leadership skills and ability to connect with players and staff in announcing the decision.

He’ll be tasked with helping the club rebound from one of the most disappointing seasons in the majors.

Huskies News

The Huskies are heading into their next game with a clearer picture at quarterback.

UW coach Jedd Fisch says he expects Demond Williams Jr. to start over Elijah Brown this weekend.

Fisch wouldn’t commit to a starter ahead of their last game against Nebraska. Brown led a struggle-filled offense for the first three quarters before Williams came in to score their first touchdown of the game and lead the win.

Fisch says he’ll make a final decision later this week before they host Penn State on Saturday.
