WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Rumors of a national chicken chain coming to Whatcom County have officially been confirmed.
Documents from the Whatcom County Treasurer’s Office show that Chick-Fil-A has purchased a plot of land across from the Bellis Fair Mall.
The property is located on Cordata Parkway, across the street from the Kohl’s entrance of the mall. It’s currently being used as a parking lot.
The $4.4 million sale of the property was completed on August 1, according to the Treasurer’s Office.
No timeline for construction or opening of the future fast-food restaurant has been announced. Currently, the closest Chick-Fil-A to Whatcom County is in Marysville.
Another national chicken chain is working to get their permits approved in Skagit County.
Officials with Raising Cane’s finished their conditional use permit application late last month for a new location in Burlington. The restaurant, if approved, would be located at the current Red Robin location on S. Burlington Boulevard.
The only Raising Cane’s locations in the state are in the Vancouver area.
