BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A fast food joint on the Guide is back open after a fire broke out over the weekend.

Bellingham Fire Department spokesperson Dustin Michaelis said the call came in from Wendy’s around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 7.

Crews were able to put the fire out five minutes after they arrived. First responders evaluated two people who were released without needing further medical attention.

Michaelis said the specific cause of the fire still hasn’t been determined, but it likely started around the fryer. The fire was contained to the kitchen, though there was some smoke damage throughout the building.

A spokesperson for Wendy’s has not yet responded to My Bellingham Now for comment.
