Mariners News

Bryce Miller is making his season debut on the mound tonight as the Mariners look to continue their dominance over the Astros.

It comes after the M’s routed their division rivals 10-2 last night in the second leg of their four-game series in Houston.

Cal Raleigh washed off his slump to help the Mariners push their franchise-best win streak to nine straight over the Astros. Raleigh says he took Logan Gilbert’s advice and took a shower in full uniform the night before. He then snapped his 0-38 stretch at the plate by hitting two singles in last night’s win.

Randy Arozarena aided the effort with a home run and two doubles on his way to a 4-4 day at the plate, and Dom Canzone added his first career grand slam in the offensive explosion. Bryan Woo earned the win after giving up two runs and striking out nine over six innings.

Coming up tonight, Bryce Miller is making his first appearance with the M’s since suffering an oblique injury in spring training. Coverage begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5:10 on KPUG.

WWU Vikings News

Western’s softball team is gearing up for its first game of the national tournament tomorrow afternoon.

The 7th-seeded Vikings are playing 2nd-seeded Cal State East Bay in the opening round of the NCAA D-II West Regional. The two teams have plenty of history, with each having mercy-ruled the other earlier this season.

The tournament is double-elimination, so even if the Vikings lose, they’ll still have a chance to keep their season alive on Friday.

First pitch for tomorrow’s game is at noon from Hayward, CA.  You can livestream the game for free on the GNAC Network website.
