WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The future of cross-state travel through Whatcom and Skagit Counties remains uncertain.
WSDOT says that their snowplows met in the middle of the seasonal closure of Highway 20 last week.
The removal of snow through the North Cascades is a typical indicator that the road will reopen in the near future. But a 15-mile stretch of the highway in Whatcom County is currently impassible due to a landslide and road washouts
WSDOT does not have a time estimate for when repair work will be complete.
They’re urging any recreationists to keep clear of the closure area.
