Bellingham Police are urging anyone who might have more information regarding the incident to contact them.

Court documents state that an open-source video from the event showed the man picking up a police officer’s riot shield and throwing it at officers.

The pair is accused of targeting Asian families as they robbed their homes for money and valuables in the middle of the night.

The driver was caught a short time later and was booked into juvenile detention.

Mount Vernon Police say 49-year-old Jason M. Birman is known to frequent both Whatcom and Skagit counties.

Detectives secured a search warrant and found over half a pound of heroin, several grams of methamphetamine, other drug related items and several illegal firearms.

The man was taken into custody for the hit and run and driving under the influence, in addition to several outstanding warrants. He remains at the Whatcom County Jail on $76,000 bail.
