Crews installed a new right turn lane from Holly onto Bay Street amid the pilot period for the city’s downtown bike lane project.
WSDOT crews will be doing early winter maintenance east of Glacier from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.
Signed detours will be in place to guide drivers around the closures.
The City of Bellingham has been working to secure funding to fully reconstruct the bridge.
Since May, traffic has gotten worse due to the protected bike lanes on Holly Street.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area as aid vehicles have closed SB I-5 at Meridian Street.
WSDOT says Reese Hill Road will be closed through Sept. 19 in both directions from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews stabilize an eroded bank.
The beach at the park remains closed until water quality testing assures that there are no residual concerns.
A signed detour is in place. Bike and pedestrian access will be limited during construction hours.
Both lanes of the highway will close on Sept. 9 as crews continue work on a fish passage project over Olson Creek.
