BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It may be a bit too cloudy in Bellingham to see tonight’s total lunar eclipse, but the unique occurrence will still happen in the night sky.
NASA says that most of the U.S. will see a total lunar eclipse starting just before 11:30 p.m. PDT on Thursday, March 13.
The entire moon is forecast to pass through the umbra, or the darkest part of Earth’s shadow, which will make it appear red in the night sky. The total eclipse is expected to last for about an hour.
NASA suggests using binoculars or a telescope for the best viewing experience.
Forecasters are cautioning that cloud coverage and rainy conditions in Whatcom County may hamper any visibility of the phenomenon.
