BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Look closely and you’ll find that some of Bellingham’s most popular areas are getting hit with a wave of color this spring.

The City of Bellingham says Public Works crews are hanging new light pole banners in the neighborhoods surrounding its city center.

Each color-filled banner highlights some of the unique activities and experiences that each district offers for residents and visitors alike. For example, banners near the waterfront include images of bike tracks and digester tanks.

The city says nearly 300 banners will eventually be displayed throughout downtown, Fairhaven, the waterfront, the Arts District and Old Town.

The banners are funded by the city’s overnight lodging tax.
