BIRCH BAY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Birch Bay Waterslides has been given the green light to reopen this summer.

Whatcom County Health and Community Services (WCHCS) says multiple features at the waterpark passed a reinspection by the department on Friday, June 6.

Two of the park’s features were not cleared: the hydro drop and the ramp slide.

The hydro drop was under construction during the inspection and is being replaced, while the slide is expected to be repaired or replaced in the future. Both features will be closed to the public until they pass a reinspection.

Birch Bay Waterslides was shut down following an incident in 2023 when a man broke his leg through a defective panel on the Hairpin Slide. The man is currently suing both the park and WCHCS, accusing them of negligence.

The park has since made necessary repairs as identified by a licensed engineer and fiberglass experts, though the Hairpin slide was removed.

The park is set to reopen this Saturday, June 14 for the first time since the incident.
