Seahawks News

The Seahawks stand alone atop the NFC after a Thursday night thriller.

Seattle beat the LA Rams 38-37 in overtime last night to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

Sam Darnold connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a touchdown in overtime before hitting Eric Saubert for a 2-point conversion to walk it off. Kenneth Walker III led the Hawks’ offense with 164 all-purpose yards, including a 55-yard touchdown run.

Despite Rams stars Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua putting in their best performances of the season, the Seahawks now have pole position in the race for a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

They’ll look to further their lead in the conference next Sunday, when they travel cross-country to take on the Carolina Panthers.

Kraken News

Things weren’t quite as sweet for the Kraken last night.

Seattle fell to Calgary Flames 4-2 for their fourth straight loss and 10th in 11 games.

After a scoreless first period, Chandler Stephenson scored to give the Kraken an early lead in the second, before Kaapo Kakko added another goal later on. But the Flames scored three unanswered goals in the third to deliver another heartbreaker for the Kraken.

Seattle has been outscored 7-0 in the third period of its last three games. They still sit just one point above the Canucks for last place in the NHL.

They’ll look to rebound when they face the San Jose Sharks tomorrow night in the second leg of their four-game road trip.
