SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A disturbing mystery in Western Washington is now drawing national attention– and a big reward.

A California animal rescue is offering twenty-five thousand dollars for information leading to whoever dumped dozens of canine carcasses on a Skagit County island.

My Bellingham Now previously reported the remains began washing up on Guemes Island late last month.

So far, at least 20 carcasses have been found. Authorities are still working to determine exactly what species they are and how they died.

KIRO 7 reports the reward is from the Helen Woodward Animal Center, whose president says he wants whoever is responsible stopped and held accountable.

The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting lab and DNA results.

Anyone with information should call the Skagit Sheriff’s Office or Animal Control.
