Mariners News

The Mariners are looking to rebound tonight after a rough start to their homestand.

The M’s are hosting the Atlanta Braves for the start of their three-game series, fresh off a sweep at the hands of the Kansas City Royals.

The M’s fell by one run in a high-scoring affair on Friday before coming up just short again in 10 innings on Saturday. Emerson Hancock highlighted the game by tossing 14 strikeouts through seven innings, the most of any MLB pitcher so far this season. But the M’s fell again in a 4-1 loss yesterday where their offense managed just four hits.

Cal Raleigh is out of the lineup for the third straight game tonight after he says he tweaked his right side in Friday’s game.

Logan Gilbert will be on the mound as he looks to help the Mariners snap their three-game skid. He’ll be going up against Braves rookie starter and former Bellingham Bell JR Ritchie, who attended Bainbridge High School.

Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.

Meanwhile, a Mariners legend is getting a monumental honor.

The team announced over the weekend that Randy Johnson will be immortalized with a statue at T-Mobile Park next year.

The announcement came the same day that the Big Unit’s No. 51 was retired in a  special pregame ceremony Saturday, making him the fourth Mariner ever to receive the honor.
