BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A seal pup is recovering after being found injured near Bellingham.
SeaLife Response, Rehabilitation and Research (SR3) said their team took the pup in over the 4th of July holiday weekend.
The organization said the harbor seal was admitted to its Rescue Center in critical condition due to a head wound.
Medical staff later determined the pup had been shot in the head, but is expected to fully recover.
SR3 said this is the third marine animal they’ve treated for a gunshot wound this year, all of which resulting in head injuries.
My Bellingham Now previously reported another seal pup was rescued by SR3 last month and treated for malnourishment.
