BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Police are warning residents of a malicious phone scam – but this one doesn’t involve personal information or payment.
Bellingham Police say that their office recently received complaints of callers pretending to be from PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center.
The scammers go on to tell the caller that a loved one is injured and on life support with little chance of recovery.
None of the scammers have demanded money or personal information during these calls. My Bellingham Now has reached out to Bellingham Police for further comment on the nature of the calls.
BPD is asking anyone who receives a similar call to hang up and call PeaceHealth directly.
Scam calls can also be reported to the Federal Trade Commission and Bellingham Police.
