BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham man is in custody after being accused of committing a hate crime in a business’s bathroom.
Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says that the victim and his child were approached by the suspect in the Walmart bathroom last Wednesday, Sept. 2.
The suspect, identified as a 51-year-old man, got into a fighting stance and made several racially-charged threats towards the man.
The victim was able to escape to the parking lot with his child, but not before the suspect threatened to kill him.
Officers located the suspect on the Guide Tuesday evening and took him into custody. He is currently held at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
