FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after leading police on a chase through Ferndale.

A spokesperson for Ferndale Police says that witnesses reported the suspect drove through a yard and nearly hit a house late Friday night, Oct. 23.

Investigators recovered a license plate from the yard and determined the vehicle had been stolen from Bellingham.

The suspect vehicle was found a short time later with its horn blaring, but without the driver inside.

As a search was underway, police attempted to stop another vehicle leaving the area.

The driver sped off onto Portal Way before being stopped by spike strips and additional support from WSP troopers and Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies.

The 35-year-old suspect remains at the Whatcom County Jail on over $100,000 bail.
