BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man was arrested after leading police on a chase through the Sehome Arboretum.
Bellingham Police said that an officer noticed the driver doing donuts in the Fairhaven Park and Ride lot around 9 p.m. Tuesday night, June 20th.
The driver sped off when confronted by police, who terminated their pursuit a short time later.
Witnesses called police regarding the driver, who continued to speed through 32nd Street and towards Western Washington University.
A pedestrian was nearly hit as the driver drove into the Arboretum.
The car was found crashed inside the Arboretum, and police began a K-9 track to find the suspect.
K-9s finally located the suspect, 20-year-old Elias Haynie-Gay, at the north end of the Arboretum on East Maple Street.
He was taken into custody but bonded out of jail Wednesday, June 21st.
