Mariners News

The Mariners are kicking off their homestand tonight with a pair of big names back in the lineup.

The team activated Cal Raleigh and JP Crawford off the injured list today. Raleigh hasn’t played since hitting the IL on May 14 with an oblique strain, while Crawford was taken out of action with a right hand contusion after being hit with a pitch on June 5.

Jhonny Pereda and Patrick Wisdom were both optioned to Tacoma to make space on the roster.

The Mariners are looking to get some space in the AL West, with the Athletics sitting just half a game behind them for first place. They’re now hosting the Orioles tonight in a rematch of their four-game series in Baltimore last week that ended in a split.

Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG with Logan Gilbert taking the mound.

Bells News

Meanwhile, the Bells are hitting the road today for the start of a three-game series in Port Angeles.

Bellingham is coming off a series win over the Portland Pickles which vaulted them to second place in the North Division. They’re now facing a struggling Lefties team that’s dropped eight of their last nine amid a freefall to last place in the division.

Tonight’s series opener starts at 6:35.

World Cup News

There are some heavy hitters in action as we hit Day 6 of the World Cup.

Kylian Mbappe scored a brace in France’s 3-1 win over Senegal this afternoon at MetLife Stadium.

Iraq is playing Norway at Gillette Stadium near Boston, before Argentina and Algeria face off in Kansas City at 6:00.

The nightcap lies here on the West Coast, when Austria takes on Jordan at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara at 9 pm, the site of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl win over the Patriots earlier this year.

College Football News

College football’s latest controversy has seemingly come to an end.

ESPN reports Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby plans to apply for the NFL supplemental draft.

It ends a months-long saga where Sorsby came under fire after admitting he bet on college sports while enrolled at Indiana, Cincinnati and Texas Tech. He had secured a preliminary injunction to keep playing with the Red Raiders this season and the NCAA recently announced its intention to challenge the decision before Sorsby declared for the draft.

The NFL’s supplemental draft allows teams to bid future draft picks on players in rare cases, as no one’s been selected in one since 2019.

Sorsby immediately becomes one of the highest-profile players to enter the draft.

Tennis News

The Williams sisters have won 14 Grand Slam titles together in doubles, including six at Wimbledon with the latest coming in 2016.

This summer’s Wimbledon starts on June 29.
