Mariners News
The Mariners are gearing up for Game 2 against the White Sox tonight on the heels of a special night from their top prospect.
Colt Emerson’s first career hit was a home run that put the finishing touches on Seattle’s 6-1 win over Chicago.
Julio Rodriguez got the scoring started in the first inning with a home run before Randy Arozarena hit an RBI double in the third and also scored off a single by Josh Naylor later in the game. Bryan Woo backed them with a six-inning shutout while striking out eight.
The win snapped the Mariners’ three-game skid and pushed them to a single game behind the Athletics for first place in the AL West. The Athletics lost a heartbreaker last night, as J.T. Ginn took a no-hitter into the ninth inning, only to surrender a walk-off home run to the Angels as the A’s dropped their third straight.
The M’s have a chance to move into a tie for the division lead tonight in Game 2 against the White Sox with Bryce Miller on the mound at T-Mobile Park.
Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.
Seahawks News
The Seahawks’ top offensive threat is calling out the NFL for an engraving mishap.
The league’s reigning Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba posted a video to his Instagram last night that showed his plaque reading “Defensive” Player of the Year. The star receiver said in the video that “it’s getting disrespectful at this point,” after his name was mispronounced several times by a comedian during the award presentation in February.
An NFL spokesperson told The Athletic that the league will send JSN a new trophy.
He set a Seahawks franchise record for receiving yards last season before the team made him the highest-paid receiver in the league in March.

The first round of the conference finals tipped off last night in the NBA, with the San Antonio Spurs edging the Oklahoma City Thunder 122-115 in a double-overtime instant classic. Spurs star Victor Wembanyama led the way with 41 points and 24 rebounds, just a day after the Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was announced as league MVP for the second straight season.

Pac-12 News
The Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences have reached an agreement in principle to resolve pending lawsuits over “poaching” and exit fees.
The conferences issued a joint statement along with five schools on Monday saying the parties agreed to stay lawsuits in California and Colorado while they “work to negotiate and finalize the settlement.”
The Pac-12 and some of the schools joining the conference filed a lawsuit in California in 2024, claiming the poaching clause the league agreed to when it signed a scheduling agreement for its football teams was invalid. The clause called for payments to the Mountain West of $10 million for the first team that left, with the amount increasing by $500,000 for every additional team — to a total of $55 million.
Colorado State, Utah State, San Diego State, Fresno State and Boise State are set to leave the Mountain West and join Washington State and Oregon State in the Pac-12 this fall.
