WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Be careful if you’re traveling over the mountains over the next few days.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm watch for the Cascades of Whatcom and Skagit counties from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14 until 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.
Forecasters are expecting 10 to 20 inches of mountain snow with wind gusts up to 40 mph.
The heaviest snow is expected to fall on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
NWS warns that the snow-covered roads and gusty winds could make travel across the mountains very difficult.
Anyone who needs to do so is advised to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicle in case of an emergency.
