MAPLE FALLS, WA. – A Maple Falls man is in custody for firing shots during a dispute.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s spokesperson Deb Slater says that deputies were called to a home on Bellwood Drive on Friday afternoon, October 6th.
Witnesses said the suspect fired the shots after being confronted by the home’s owners for slashing tires on their car.
No one was injured and the suspect, 37-year-old Matthew Bentley, ran off.
He was later tracked down by a K-9 and taken into custody.
Bentley is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess firearms.
He remains at the Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, malicious mischief, and unlawful firearm possession.
