BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) A woman who was arrested in connection to a stolen car faces further charges after trying to smuggle fentanyl into the county jail.
Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says police found a stolen Subaru on Telegraph Road last Thursday, November 8th, and a witness identified a suspect inside a nearby store.
Officers questioned the suspect and discovered she gave them a fake name before correctly identifying her as 27-year-old Hanna Erlandson.
A phone with a photo of her on the lock screen inside the stolen Subaru established probable cause for officers to arrest her for possession of a stolen vehicle and criminal impersonation.
Corrections officers later found a small piece of tin foil that contained fentanyl during a cavity search while they booked Erlandson into the jail.
Erlandson was also wanted on warrants from Skagit County.
She remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
