Seahawks News

Another key Seahawk is on the move.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that former Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen is heading to the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal worth up to $15 million.

Woolen had 12 interceptions over four seasons in Seattle. His six interceptions led the league in his rookie season and earned him a Pro Bowl nod, but he hasn’t made it back since.

Meanwhile, a former Seahawks quarterback is heading to the Big Apple… again.

Schefter reports that the New York Jets are trading a sixth-round pick in this year’s draft to acquire Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders. Smith will now slot in as the Jets’ starting quarterback – a position he held from 2013 to early 2015 after being drafted by the franchise.

ESPN reports the Jets wanted to wait until Smith was released from the Raiders before signing him, but faced competition from the Minnesota Vikings.

Smith is coming off a season where he threw a league-worst 17 interceptions in his first year with Vegas. Before that, he spent three seasons as the Seahawks’ starting quarterback.

Mariners News

A viral feud has put a possible split between two Mariners stars.

A video taken at yesterday’s World Baseball Classic game appears to show Cal Raleigh refusing to shake Randy Arozarena’s hand at the plate during USA’s match against Mexico.

Arozarena went on to unleash an expletive filled rant against Cal through several different languages after the game.  It’s not immediately clear whether he was making the comments sarcastically as a joke or if they were serious.

Raleigh later told several beat reporters that he’s reached out to Arozarena and has all the respect in the world for him, but added that he takes the WBC games seriously and has a responsibility to be locked in. It comes as Team USA beat Mexico 5-3 yesterday to improve to 3-0 ahead of tonight’s game against Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone and Italy.
