WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Time is running out to register to vote in next month’s election.
Whatcom County residents have until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, to register and update their registration online or by mail for the Nov. 3 general election.
After that deadline, residents will only be able to update their registration in-person through Election Day.
Ballots are due in an official drop box by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The auditor’s office is recommending anyone who returns their ballot by mail to do so by Oct. 27 to make sure it’s postmarked in time.
So far, voters have returned over 31,000 ballots in Whatcom County as of Friday afternoon, Oct. 23.
That represents over 18% of registered voters in the county, which is a little higher compared to the ballot returns at this same point ahead of the 2022 midterm election.
Nearly 200 ballots have already been challenged, meaning there was a discrepancy in signatures or a missing signature on the ballot.
