OLYMPIA, Wash. – We are a little over a week away from a new state payroll deduction going into place.
Washington workers will see a 0.58% deduction from their gross pay starting on July 1st.
The deduction is part of the WA Cares Act, which was created to provide funding for long-term care and related expenses.
Once in place, costs of home care, caregiver pay, and specialized transportation will be reduced for workers enrolled in the deduction.
Some Washington workers can still apply for an exemption from the payroll tax.
