BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association is offering multiple opportunities for the public to help restore the keystone species’ habitat this July.
Every Saturday of the month, the Nooksack River Stewards will partner with the Whatcom Land Trust to lead a team of volunteers in removing invasive plants from the river.
Teams will tackle the North Fork in Maple Creek on the 8th and the 15th, and then help clear the South Fork in Nooksack on the 22nd and 29th.
Work gloves, tools, and refreshments will be provided, as well as a shuttle service to and from the work sites.
All ages are welcome to join, though volunteers under the age of 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.
