FERNDALE, Wash. – Thanks to some talented kids in Ferndale, the city just got a whole lot more colorful.
City Communications Officer Riley Sweeney says earlier this month volunteers with the Ferndale Arts Commission installed 38 pieces of art onto 19 garbage bins around town.
Arts Commission chair Rebecca Xczar says the project will actually save the city money by upgrading garbage bins instead of having to replace them.
Artists were asked to consider what Ferndale means to them or utilize a Pacific Northwest aesthetic for the project.
The project was funded by the Ferndale Downtown Association.
