BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Arne Hanna Aquatic Center will soon be changing their rules concerning the homeless.

The City of Bellingham announced on their website that the free pandemic-era shower program for homeless people will be ending.

The public pool is set to shut down for maintenance July 29th and concerns over recent drug use in the bathrooms will be addressed with new locks being installed.

They say when the Center reopens August 20th, the free shower program will no longer be in effect.

Other alternatives for available free showers include at downtown’s Base Camp and a mobile shower trailer operated by the Homeless Outreach Team every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1515 Birchwood Ave.
