BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham man and a 17-year-old boy are in custody after a drive-by shooting on Monday morning, July 24th.

Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater says deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the 900 block of Willey’s Lake Road in Ferndale around 1:15 a.m.

Reports said a bullet came through a window and struck a victim in the leg.

Ferndale Police later responded to a report of shots being fired in the Eastgate Loop area.

A resident’s surveillance camera caught the suspect vehicle, and it was located by the Bellingham Police Department at 2:15 a.m.

They arrested 18-year-old Alejandro Villa Herrera of Bellingham and the 17-year-old.

Villa Herrera admitted to driving in the area of Custer when the boy fired several shots out the passenger window.

Deputies developed probable cause to arrest Villa Herrera for Drive by Shooting and the juvenile for Drive by Shooting and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Villa Herrera was booked into Whatcom County Jail and the juvenile was booked into Juvenile Detention.
