BLAINE, Wash. – A California man was arrested after leading Washington State Patrol on a high-speed, cross-border chase over the weekend.
FOX 13 reports that the suspect was seen driving erratically on I-5 NB in Whatcom and Skagit Counties Saturday night.
WSP confirmed the car had been stolen out of Seattle and attempted to pull them over near Slater Road.
The driver sped off, topping 115 mph at one point.
WSP called off the pursuit after the suspect flew through the Nexus lane at the Peace Arch border crossing.
The suspect ended up crashing into another vehicle about a mile past the Canadian border.
He was able to escape the car as it burst into flames, but was eventually subdued by Royal Canadian Mounted Police after attempting to run from and fight them.
The 21-year-old man was treated for his injuries and faces multiple charges in Canada and the US.
