BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham Police have fired the detective in charge of the Bellingham administrator scandal over a separate issue.
Deputy Chief Don Almer confirmed that Detective Bo McGinty was terminated as of this past Friday, August 18th.
Bellingham Police Chief Rebecca Mertzig issued a statement, saying their internal investigation revealed McGinty had been using another detective’s name to get dry-cleaning services.
Those services were city-paid expenses that McGinty was not entitled to.
Chief Mertzig added that his actions did not reflect those of the Bellingham Police Department, and that she will continue to hold members of her department accountable.
