NORTH CASCADES, WA. – (KGMI.com) Heavy snow is expected to make its way to parts of Whatcom County in the coming days.
The National Weather Service in Seattle issued a winter storm warning that is in effect from 4 a.m. Friday, December 1st, through Saturday night.
Forecasters expect up to three feet of snow in the Cascades and valleys of Whatcom and Skagit Counties, including the Mount Baker Ski Area.
They are asking travelers to be careful, as roads could be very difficult to drive on.
NWS also issued a flood advisory from Sunday through Wednesday in parts of Western Washington as snow and rainfall increases over the next week.
The Whatcom County Division of Emergency Management says they do not expect any flooding to occur in our area, but the Weather Service says flooding cannot be ruled out for any western Washington rivers.
The County has a page for people to stay updated on forecasts and current river conditions.
