BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) A Bellingham man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a stranger.

Police say that the victim and a woman were walking on Northwest Avenue on Monday morning when the suspect allegedly spat on the woman.

The victim got into an argument with the suspect, which led to the suspect stabbing him in the chest with a knife.

He was later medevacked to Harborview Medical Center due to the seriousness of his injury.

Several witnesses, including one who followed him until officers arrived, identified the suspect as 22-year-old Jayden Janisch.

Janisch remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
